When a jumbo mortgage balance can move into a conforming refinance
The switch refinance
Crossover answer
Most jumbo-to-conforming moves are limited cash-out, or rate-and-term, refinances under agency rules: the new loan pays off the jumbo, finances allowed costs and gives little or no cash back. Lenders review credit, income, assets and value. Because agency rules apply, documentation can be lighter than your original jumbo loan required.

Can I take cash out when refinancing from jumbo to conforming?
A cash-out loan must also fit under the limit, which usually means less room. Most switches are rate-and-term.
